Yasssss ! You’ve signed on the dotted line and you’re ready to finally experience that luxury living you’ve been dreaming of ! Here’s what comes next ….
Trade Day
Building a design concept for your home may seem simple on the surface but in reality, it will encompass a lot of moving parts. To make sure we don’t miss a thing , we combine our creative ideas with the real logistics upfront . How do we do this ?
We have assembled a design team comprised of some of the area’s leading builders, general contractors, painters, plumbers, electricians, wallpaper installers, home theater specialists, cabinetmakers, faux finishers, and artists (“the trades”). In my experience , a team where everyone specializes in a niche area makes for an air-tight project with little to no change orders.
The trades are introduced to your home at the beginning of the design conception phase on what I like to call “Trade Day”. On trade day I schedule and coordinate all trades I believe from my initial ideas will need to be involved in your project. Custom window treatments? Wainscotting ? My custom workroom and millwork contacts will be in attendance to take exact measurements, point out anything that will need to be considered in executing my design ideas , and make sure that we are all on the same page.
After touring the space , the trades now have all they need to put together precise drawings, specifications, and quotes. We will present all of these to you on “Presentation Day”.
Setting The Tone
Now, I haven’t forgotten about the fun part , the designing ! We will begin to set the tone for your project immediately by building a pinterest board full of your favorite inspiration. The most important thing to me during this exercise is not just what looks good , but does it make you feel good. We want every room in your home to tell a story, and that will start with the vibes ! We will both add to the board, and share comments on what you love or don’t, and why . Then I will filter , and pull out all the best parts. These ideas will be compiled into a 2D conception board for each room that reflects the style , color palette, and overall aesthetic of the space.

Presentation Day
Once, you fall in love with the concept , I will start curating a detailed design plan. This phase includes:
- A floor plan with furniture layout
- Sketches for custom window treatments
- Color Palette
- Selection of all furnishings , fixtures, finishes, and accessories.
- 3D rendering to present final design – all physical samples of fabrics, finishes and wallcoverings as applicable
- Budget breakdown of all areas including trade quotes
Yes! You will be able to see your space as it would be furnished and touch all those luscious fabrics on presentation day. We find that 3D renderings always guarantee a yes with our clients as it makes it so much easier for clients to visualize themselves in their new space.
Upon approval of your detailed design plan 100% of the furnishings budget will be due. For any trade work required, you will enter a separate contract and payment agreement with those trades as applicable.
Now all you have to do is sit back and watch everything come together as we take your project through the project management, procurement, and installation phase.
Stay tuned as we walk you through phase 3 in our next blog post.
