Traditional Refinement

Conception

This was a very special project for my client who had grown up with strong family traditions and deep familial connections. Since she was a little girl, she had dreamed of a grand dining room where she could gather her big family in memory of her grandmother, the matriarch of her family and muse for this room.

With tradition in mind, we opted for a tried and true combination of rich deep wood finishes, gilded aged gold trim, and cabriole-style legs. We juxtaposed these traditional elements with modern accents – mirrored surfaces, dancing chandeliers, faux venetian plaster wallpaper, and a stunning metallic gold ceiling.

Musings

“My grandmother had the most beautiful china cabinet. She was so proud of her china collection. I just have to have that too.” – Client

She’d been collecting the finest China for years in anticipation and we couldn’t wait to help her realize her dream in honoring her grande dame. But what’s better than one grand statement? TWOOOOO! That’s right, we paired two jaw dropping display cases side by side, serving up the perfect setting for her impressive collection. The personification of “fine dining”, if I must say so myself.
